“Bruce has been an inspiration to me for many years. His undeniable talents are his immediate attraction for most, but I became fascinated with his philosophies on adaptation. The way he spoke about flowing with outside forces and utilizing its own momentum were enlivening on so many levels in my own life.

In many of my ventures, I’ve found a moderate amount of success through the same formula: Understand the standard body of knowledge, use it toward your own advantages, and expand upon it yourself. This is the formula that I’ve applied to martial arts; to footbag when I went on to the World Championships; to programming when I learned app development at the beginning of the technology, and now to business while I am getting my own company and brand off the ground.

There’s one quote that can be applied to any obstacle and exploit you find yourself facing:

“Adapt what is useful, reject what is useless, and add what is specifically your own.”

You can pick these words apart in any number of ways – And I have! You’ll still find more wisdom and utility to them. For that, I’m eternally grateful to Bruce.”
